Cover Letter & POP Kit choice

Hi POP9,

A few tasks for you to do today.

1.  Go to the POP links index 

Each POP kit allow you to explore one career in detail... the kits are self-guiding and you work more or less independently of others.  That being said, if more than one person enjoy one particular career, you could form a group.

So...

• go to http://wiki.liensppo.qc.ca/En/wakka.php?wiki=HomePage
• check out the possible POP kits by selecting the topics from the left side list
• indicate your top 5 choices+ your name and email them to me brian.hodge@essb.qc.ca

1. 1st choice
2. 2nd choice
3. 3rd choice
4. 4th choice
5. 5th choice

       *if you don't have an email, then you must create one. (google, yahoo, outlook, gmx, whatever!)

       ** Escuminac apparently has all the POP kits so choose what you like... your work will be      

            evaluated on a class by class basis as well as your overall completion.

2. Work on your cover letter.

This cover letter will be easily adapted to your needs when applying for a job.

Finish up your rough copy and then type it up.

email it to me brian.hodge@essb.qc.ca at the end of class + save to your USB jumpdrive!

Sean Aiken

Hi Folks,

Here's a link to Sean Aiken's TED talk about finding your passion and turning it into a career.

We also introduced our job shadow activity and gave out some resumes. I'll need to see MM, SS, and GGC for info so we can build your resumes.

 Future classes will be about interview skills and the independent research projects (POP kits). 

Also upcoming is the career fair.... it's a go for next Tuesday, March 20th....viewing schedule TBA but you will have an assignment connected to it.

Cluster Buster Presentations Postponed

I really should have told everyone that since the snow afternoon hit our POP class on Tuesday, we lost valuable research time and I have to delay your presentations.

So I am using Monday Feb2nd as a research/writing day and I will be asking students to electronically send me what they have by the end of Thursday's class. I will use what is submitted to me for the 2nd term report card.

The actual presentation days are to be announced but it won't be this week.

First POST!

I wasn't really planning on setting up this blog but here it is.... your blog for POP (Personal Orientation Project).  A place where I'll put current news and events related to careers.  I'll also put up links to things that we've done in class for the next little while.

Coach Carter is not available to stream on Netflix anymore (UGH!) but you can watch a series of clips from Youtube that will give the gist of the movie. The clips are in a playlist and there is an annoying ad for movieclips.com in between but at least it's free. If you need another handout let me know.
